New depot completed for Direct Freight Express

Sagle has completed construction of a new depot for Direct Freight Express, Australia’s largest family owned and operated express road carrier service.

Located in Cavan South Australia, the new depot includes a warehouse, office, mezzanine and recessed docks designed for fleet distribution.

Sagle was engaged to design and construct the facility in October 2017 following the successful delivery of a depot on the same property for Direct Freight in 2011.

The new depot was built to meet the needs of Direct Freight’s growing business and allow for more distribution throughout South Australia.

Sagle Business Director Gary Lees said it was great to continue to build on a great relationship with the Direct Freight team to deliver the project on time and within budget.

“Having worked with Direct Freight before, we understand operational requirements which enables us to ensure that it was a positive and successful building experience,” Gary said.

The building’s superstructure features an industrial precast dado wall with metal Colorbond cladding above.

The main front elevation was designed to include a combination of Alucobond, ExoTec and painted precast, a simple but effective entry to the site

The building also features a 39.1m clear span portal frame to the warehouse with a 5m canter livered canopy to driveways.
